Tom and Jen’s journey with Building Energy began nearly 15 years ago with a home performance energy audit. Jen says: “We didn’t always follow your advice, back then, but we should have! Your recommendations are always thoughtful and sound.” In August of 2020, Tom and Jen hired Building Energy for an extensive exterior remodeling project. The scope of work included re-siding the entire home and replacing a door and windows on the east side of the home. It was the perfect time to include air sealing and insulating exterior walls cavities, as recommended in the original audit report. The project was completed in early 2021.
In the fall of 2023, Tom and Jen contacted Building Energy regarding their interest in an even larger renovation project including a large addition. By February 2024 they entered into a contract with Building Energy to construct an addition as well as remodel portions of the existing home. 2024 was a big year for Tom & Jen and their family. “and (Building Energy was) an instrumental part of it” Jen says. “Thank You for your construction of our addition/renovation this summer, a project that was a big milestone for our family.”
In early March Building Energy started the demo and foundation work on Jen & Tom’s addition and then construction for the renovation was underway. With efficiency in mind, heat pumps were included in the project. This is what they had to say about their new heat pumps: “Thank you also to the Heat Pump Technicians and Installers, who were so efficient in their work and who instantaneously alleviated interior humidity during the last muggy stretch of June. How did we manage without heat pumps before this? We wish every home in Vermont could have one!” By late July the project was complete but for some finishing touches that were smoothly and successfully executed by our construction division with minimal interruption to the homeowners
