The Riverflow Community construction and renovation projects are underway!

The Riverflow Community, a non-profit organization, offers enhanced living options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their inaugural residence, an 8-bedroom house situated on 30 picturesque acres in Monkton, required extensive renovations to comply with Therapeutic Care Residence (TCR) regulations and accessibility standards. Upon uncovering moisture and energy issues, the building inspector recommended Building Energy due to their expertise in weatherization, green construction, and energy efficiency. It was a natural choice for Riverflow to enlist their help in meeting the necessary standards. When Building Energy was approached to assist, they gladly accepted the opportunity to contribute to such a noble cause and it’s been great so far!

The first part of the house we tackled was the kitchen—which was in desperate need of reframing, new windows and doors, cabinets, counter space, appliances and all the trim & finishes.

We then removed existing skylights in the cathedral ceiling and reframed that space. We removed the garage door to reframe. Next came gutter repair around the whole building, to route water away from the building.

Currently, we are in the phase of insulation and getting this beautiful home ready for the fast-approaching winter season! Stay tuned for updates and the conclusion of this project!
